The annual meeting of COST Action ‘NEXT’, held at the Institute of Physics of Zagreb (HR), from 14-18th July 2025 is just concluded.
The main goal of our Action is to promote the development and application of advanced non-linear extreme ultraviolet (EUV) to X-ray spectroscopic and imaging techniques, enabled by Free Electron Laser (FEL) facilities and lab-based High-order Harmonic Generation (HHG) sources.
During the workshop we promoted the discussion of novel approaches for the generation of coherent pulses in these spectral ranges and for the implementation of novel schemes of ultrafast non-linear spectroscopy.
The meeting hosted 18 scientific sessions, with a series of invited talks (25+5 minutes each) and contributed talks (duration 15+5 minutes each) focussed on the theoretical and experimental development of models, generation and application of few-femtosecond and attosecond pulses at FELs and HHG sources. During the workshop we promoted the discussion of novel approaches for the generation of coherent pulses in the EUV soft X rays spectral ranges with ample time for general and free discussions via several coffee breaks, one poster sessions and three round tables.
This year’s special talks were focus on scientific integrity, by Johannes Gierschner, Dr. rer. nat. habil. and on “tips and tricks” on how to prepare a good paper, by Dr. Jacopo Fregoni, editor of NATURE Communications Physics (Springer).
Four industry partners (FastLite, LightConversion, Rigaku and XR Nanotech) presented a series of short pitches talks, to reinforce the collaboration with academia.
Two prizes (sponsored by Springer) have been awarded for the Best young researcher presentation and for the Best poster presentation.
